Dave Reichert: Pro-Choice or Pro-Life
Former Congressman and King County Sheriff Dave Reichert recently announced his candidacy for Governor of Washington State. Some think Reichert is pro-choice and others think pro-life. Which is it?

If you’re listening to Republicans, Dave Reichert is pro-choice. If you’re listening to Democrats, Dave Reichert is pro-life. If this seems odd to you, it is.
These comments made me question Reichert’s own positions. Instead of blindly believing one side or another, I did my own research. My research, ironically enough, was assisted by the Washington State Democrats who e-mailed a glowing advertisement regarding Dave Reichert’s pro-life stance.
Abortion will be an issue Reichert will have to deal with form now until election day. The Democrats will not let it go and I doubt the Republicans will let this issue pass. It is too important for both. For Democrats, it will be their avenue to attack Reichert. For some Republicans, it seems, this will also be their avenue to attack Reichert.
Which party is correct in their assessment of Reichert’s stance on abortion? Let’s look at the evidence.
2015 | Reichert voted in support of HR 36, ‘Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.’ HR 36 banned abortions after 20 weeks. Arguably, this was one of the most pro-life legislations passed at the time.
2011 | Reichert voted in support of HR 1, an amendment that would ban all federal funding for Planned Parenthood.
Reichert has received a 0% rating from Planned Parenthood. [If Reichert was pro-choice, he would at least have a positive rating]
NARAL, a pro-choice organization, reviewed Reichert’s voting record and gave him an outstanding 0% on pro-choice issues.
Reichert has stated abortion is taking a life.
He has also stated life begins at conception.
Words can be written and said about Dave Reichert’s position on abortion. Most of these words have no justification. If I am missing something, please feel free to reach out and correct me with evidence and facts. Until then, Dave Reichert is the pro-life candidate Washington needs. In a state like Washington that leans far left, abortion is political baggage for a pro-life Republican candidate. For Republicans, however, this should be a non-issue. Reichert has proven his stance with his votes which are Congressional record.
Instead, if Washington Republicans have an issue with Dave Reichert, they should say so and prove it with real evidence like voting records and statements.
